Engine inspections and overhaul requirements are model-specific. They may be controlled by flight hours, cycles, calendar time, condition-monitoring results, manufacturer recommendations, approved maintenance programme requirements, mandatory instructions and the engine’s operating history. The applicable engine maintenance manual and current continuing airworthiness information determine what is due.
Some engines may be eligible for approved on-condition, escalation or extension programmes, but these are not automatic and depend on the operator, regulator, programme and engine condition. The engine model, serial number, time since new, time since overhaul, cycles and maintenance status should be reviewed before an interval or work scope is quoted.
