Warning signs can include difficult or abnormal starts, unusual noises or vibration, oil or fuel leaks, metal contamination, rising oil consumption, smoke, unstable indications, reduced power, slower acceleration, abnormal exhaust gas temperature or inter-turbine temperature, torque or fuel flow changes, and adverse trends in recorded engine performance.
Crew reports, exceedances and cockpit indications should never be ignored. If an abnormal condition is observed, the aircraft should be assessed against the approved operating and maintenance instructions before further flight. Early investigation can prevent secondary damage and unplanned downtime.
